Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how DoseCue (the “App”), developed and operated by Thanh Le (“we,” “us,” or “our”), handles information when you use the App.
DoseCue is a local-first medication reminder app. In the current version, your medication records and other core App data are stored on your device and are not uploaded to a DoseCue-operated server. Limited information may still be processed by Apple, our support email provider, or services you choose, as described below.
For privacy questions, contact us at dosecue.official@gmail.com.
1. Information Processed and Stored Locally
Depending on the features you choose to use, the App may process and store:
- Medication data: medication name, strength, form, dose quantity, instructions, notes, display color and icon, schedules, reminder times, and time-zone information.
- Dose history: planned dose times; taken, taken-late, skipped, missed, pending, and snoozed statuses; action and correction times; snooze time; quantity consumed; and snapshots of medication details used to preserve historical context.
- Inventory data: current quantity, low-stock threshold, expiration date, and expiration-reminder timing.
- In-App preferences: reminder types, sound preference, whether a medication name appears in notifications, selected language, and onboarding status.
- Local profile data: a profile identifier, optional display name, optional age, selected built-in avatar, or a processed copy of a custom profile photo and up to three recent custom avatars.
- Purchase state: a local cache of the Premium plan, subscription state, expiration date, auto-renewal status, and last verification date obtained through Apple.
- Generated information: adherence summaries, charts, trends, statistics, and export files calculated from locally stored medication and dose data.
Core records use Apple’s SwiftData storage on the device. Profile files use the App’s local Documents directory, preferences use local app storage, and the widget uses an App Group cache shared only between the App and its widget extension. DoseCue currently has no user-account system and no DoseCue-operated backend for this data.
2. Profile Photos, Camera, and Photo Library
If you choose a custom profile photo, you may select an image from your photo library or take a new photo. The App requests camera or photo-library access only when needed for the option you select.
The selected image is cropped, resized, and re-encoded into an App-managed copy stored locally. DoseCue does not upload that copy to its own server. The original photo remains under the control of the Camera or Photos app and is not deleted when you remove the App-managed profile copy.
Resetting App Settings removes the local profile and App-managed avatar copies. It does not revoke camera or photo-library permissions; you manage system permissions in iOS Settings.
3. Notifications and Home Screen Widgets
DoseCue requests notification permission to deliver the medication, snooze, low-stock, refill-forecast, and expiration reminders you configure. Notifications are scheduled through Apple’s notification framework. Depending on your preference, visible notification content may include a medication name, strength, dose information, or reminder status. Anyone who can view your Lock Screen or notifications may be able to see that content.
Home Screen widgets use a small App Group cache containing up to today’s and tomorrow’s relevant dose information, such as medication name, strength, schedule time, status, summary counts, locale, and Premium-access state. Widget information may be visible to anyone who can view your device’s Home Screen.
You can change notification access and visibility in iOS Settings and manage widgets from the Home Screen. Resetting App Settings resets DoseCue’s in-App notification preferences but cannot reset iOS system permission. Deleting all categories removes DoseCue’s pending and delivered notifications and clears its widget cache; iOS permission remains controlled by Apple and the device owner.
4. Analytics and Diagnostics
The current version of DoseCue does not integrate third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs and does not send App-usage analytics to a DoseCue server.
DoseCue does not send medication names, dosages, instructions, notes, inventory quantities, dose history, profile photos, or export contents to analytics services.
Apple may provide aggregated App Store metrics and diagnostics according to your device and App Store privacy settings. Apple handles that information under its own privacy terms, and those reports do not provide DoseCue with your locally stored medication records. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
5. Premium Purchases
Monthly subscriptions, yearly subscriptions, eligible free trials, and the Lifetime purchase are offered through Apple’s App Store and processed with StoreKit. Apple, not DoseCue, processes your payment method and maintains your App Store purchase history.
DoseCue does not receive or store full payment-card details. To unlock features and restore purchases, the App receives and locally caches limited transaction and entitlement information, such as product identifier, plan, subscription status, expiration date, auto-renewal status, and verification time.
6. CSV and PDF Exports
CSV and PDF files are generated on your device. General export files are stored temporarily in the App’s cache, are normally removed after the share flow, and managed export files older than approximately 24 hours are removed the next time the export feature performs its cleanup. Report exports use temporary App-managed files that are removed when they are replaced or no longer needed.
You decide where an export goes through the iOS Share Sheet. If you save or share a file using Files, Mail, AirDrop, cloud storage, or another app or person, the chosen recipient’s privacy and retention practices apply. DoseCue does not automatically upload or intercept the exported file.
Relevant Delete Data selections clear App-managed export and report files, but they cannot delete copies you previously saved or shared outside DoseCue.
7. Support Communications and Legal Pages
If you choose to email support from the App, the draft may include the App version and build, device model, and iOS version. You decide whether to send it and may edit the subject or message and add attachments. Your email address, message, attachments, and this technical context are then processed by your email provider and the DoseCue support inbox, currently hosted by Google.
Support communications are generally retained while your request is active and for up to six months after the last interaction. They may be deleted earlier through manual or automated mailbox storage management, including when storage limits are reached, and we do not guarantee retention for the full six-month period. We may retain them longer where reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, prevent abuse, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. You may request deletion as described in Section 12. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
When you read this policy online, the hosting provider logs your IP address for security and may receive standard request information. Your medication records are not included.
8. Data Sharing, Sale, Advertising, and Tracking
- We do not sell your personal information or medication information.
- We do not use medication information for advertising or cross-company tracking.
- DoseCue does not disclose your medication records to healthcare providers, caregivers, insurers, employers, or advertisers. You may choose to share an export with a destination or person you select.
Limited information is processed by Apple for App Store purchases and Apple-controlled diagnostics; by Google and your email provider if you contact support; and by destinations you deliberately choose for an exported file. The hosting provider may process access information when you read this policy online. Those providers handle information under their own terms and privacy policies.
We may disclose support communications if reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to a valid legal request, or protect users, our rights, or the security of the service. Because core medication data is not held on a DoseCue server, we ordinarily cannot retrieve or disclose it.
9. Retention, Delete Data, Uninstallation, and Backups
Local records remain on your device until you edit or delete them, use Delete Data, or uninstall the App. Reports and statistics are calculated from dose history and can be generated again while the underlying dose history remains.
The Delete Data categories work as follows:
- Medications & Schedules: removes medication details, schedules, reminder times, and associated inventory and expiration records. Dose-history snapshots remain unless Dose History is also selected.
- Dose History: removes dose records and automatically includes Reports & Statistics because those reports depend on dose history. Medication definitions remain unless separately selected.
- Reports & Statistics only: removes generated report files and App-managed temporary export/cache files. It does not delete dose history, so charts and statistics may be generated again.
- Inventory: removes stock quantities, thresholds, and expiration information while retaining medication definitions, schedules, and dose history.
- App Settings: resets the local profile and avatar copies, selected language, onboarding state, and in-App notification preferences. It retains medication data, dose history, inventory, Apple purchase history, active subscriptions, and the locally cached Premium entitlement needed for continued access.
- Select All: performs all actions above, clears all App preferences including the cached Premium entitlement, removes DoseCue’s pending and delivered notifications, clears the widget cache, and returns the App to its first-launch onboarding state. StoreKit may restore an active purchase after Apple verifies it again.
Delete Data and uninstallation do not remove:
- Apple’s App Store purchase history or an active subscription; subscriptions must be managed through your Apple Account.
- Exports or other copies previously saved or shared outside DoseCue.
- Original photos in your photo library.
- iOS system permissions, which you manage in iOS Settings.
- Support emails or information independently held by Apple, the hosting provider, Google, your email provider, or a sharing destination.
Depending on your iCloud Backup and device settings, Apple may include App data in a device backup. DoseCue does not control or access those backups. Deleting information inside the App may not immediately delete an older backup; backup retention and restoration are controlled by Apple and your settings.
10. Security
DoseCue uses Apple platform storage and file-protection features for its managed local files and keeps core data off a DoseCue-operated server. Temporary export and report files also use device file protection where supported.
No device, storage system, or electronic transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining a device passcode, controlling Lock Screen and widget visibility, keeping iOS current, protecting backups, and securing files you export or share.
11. Children’s Privacy
DoseCue is intended for users aged 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly operate an account service for children. A parent or legal guardian should approve and supervise use by a minor, particularly because medication information is sensitive and reminder entries must be accurate.
If you believe a child sent personal information through support email without appropriate consent, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.
12. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
You can view, correct, export, or delete core information directly in the App. Because DoseCue does not receive your local medication database, we generally cannot access, correct, or delete that database for you.
For personal information we do hold, such as a support email, you may ask to access, correct, or delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, or exercise other rights available under applicable law. We may need to verify that the request came from the relevant email account and may retain limited information where the law permits or requires it. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Requests may be sent to the contact in Section 14. Apple, the hosting provider, Google, email providers, and sharing destinations are responsible for requests concerning information they independently control.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when DoseCue’s features, data practices, providers, or legal obligations change. The revised page will show a new “Last Updated” date and effective date. When reasonably practicable, material changes will also be communicated in the App or through another appropriate notice before they take effect.
